Slinky's Best of 2002

it’s already March, so i guess it’s about time for a recap of 2002. it started off a bit slow… completely dull and boring actually. then geno decided to run some red light in San Francisco and smack into a Chinese family’s car... in youngusher’s vehicle, of course (don’t worry kiddies, no one was hurt). some how, some way, the year got better from there…

the albums...

hot snakes - "suicide invoice". effing brilliant. the damn thing just keeps getting better.

burning brides - "fall of the plastic empire". before any of you indie geeks say anything, i know this record was originally released in 2001.... it was re-released in 2002 on V2. i don’t care. this is good enough for both years…

the distillers - "sing sing death house". actual punk rock… what a concept…

the songs

"autobiography of a nation" – thursday.
"how near, how far" – …and you will know us by the trail of dead.
"sans cosm" – sparta.
"mr. you’re on fire mr."liars.
"sick of it all" – the distillers.
"XOX" – hot snakes.
"feels like falling in love"the arrogants.
"no one knows" – queens of the stone age.

movies

the ring – yeah, it scared the hell out of me… i don’t really remember what else i saw. i guess they weren’t that good…
slinky wants a punk rock girlfriend too.
